In just four years, the LUXEMBOURG CITY FILM FESTIVAL has become Luxembourg’s leading cinema event. With some 18,000 visitors in 2014, and exponential growth from one year to the next, the ten-day event has found its audience thanks to a broad palette of activities and a deep-rooted concern for quality.
International competition, documentary competition, programming for young audiences and a selection of the best productions from Luxembourg… Four pillars of an event offering 130 screenings in its partner cinemas (Ciné Utopia, Utopolis Kirchberg and Cinémathèque). But the festival is not afraid to venture outside the cinema walls, forging partnerships with many of the capital’s cultural institutions.
Over 150 international guests in 2014, including Luc Dardenne, Michel Gondry, Clémence Poésy and Jean-Marc Barr, over 40 volunteers, more than 300 applications for press and professional accreditation… Despite its newly extended scale, Luxembourg City Film Festival continues to emphasize the personal touch, offering opportunities for filmmakers to meet the people who love their work. One example is the Ratskeller, the festival headquarters in the heart of the city, where actors, directors and producers can get together and meet their audiences.
Thanks to support from institutions (the Ministry of Culture and the City of Luxembourg) and private partners (led by the Utopia SA group), the 2015 Luxembourg City Film Festival once again promises exclusive film events, special screenings and themed evenings, not to mention a wide range of workshops, an exhibition, concerts and parties… Live the experience from 26 February to 8 March 2015.
